Laura & Belén in Southampton

This week I was lucky to enjoy two of my friends. They came from Spain, from Zaragoza, to visit me and see a bit of what Erasmus life is like. I have to say we had a great time and enjoyed a lot. They were visiting the city, especially the shops, when I went to class and then we were all partying to also know the nightlife of the city. We think to go to Winchester or London, but finally we decided that it was best to look deeply Southampton, visiting all worthwhile. For me, it was a rediscovery of the city because we went through streets that I still didn´t know and for them it was really fun. We were lucky that it was a warm sunny day when we took a tour of the docks and saw the medieval walls surrounding Southampton. It would be great that we would have seen the Titanic but I think it was too late...haha

Solved problem & Glow Party & Salisbury

Despite all the mess with the subjects, in the end I chose a unit with my schedule and that, as far as it goes, it´s quite interesting. It´s called Magazine Design and I´m sure it´s well known for you because it sounds like another unit I am studying, Making Magazines. At first, I was reluctant to choose it because I thought the content would be too similar but it was the only one which could be fixed in the timetable. I had considered all the possibilities so I had no choice but to accept. I wanted to start the subject because I wanted to know what it was going to be about. The lecturer explained that this subject is more related to fashion and he will teach us some new design programs. We must take our own pictures and write our articles. I realized that it was very different from the other subjects so I was calm. The teacher is very young and but I see he seems quite strict. I'll tell you more about him as I get to know. Otherwise, the week has been fairly quiet because there were just some presentations of the subjects. In general, I liked them all, especially Broadcast Journalism; although I already had it before, now we are starting to drive professional video cameras and it´s more directed towards the world of television. Apart from that, on Wednesday we had another party because it was the birthday of a colleague, the Glow Party. We had a very good time, as usual and it was different because the girl decorated her house with great detail. After the flat party we went to the pub, Bliss. There were lots of people and we were all enjoying ourselves like children. I put some pics here.

During the week, we had been planning a trip for Saturday. We thought to go to Brighton, Bristol but we finally chose Salisbury because it was closer to Southampton and we saw that it was a better option because we just wanted to spend one day there. It is a small but very pretty, typical English city. The shame is that it was very cold. Anyway we were about thirty people and the freezing walks became pleasant ones.

                               

Uni starts again

As we told you on Thursday, we went to the court. It was a bit disappointing because we found no cases of particular relevance to be published in a newspaper. Anyway, it was a new experience useful when searching for news stories, as long as there are interesting cases, of course. The rest of the week was pretty relaxed because we still had the old times and many of the classes had been cancelled. Still, on Friday I had my English class in which we said goodbye to our teacher, who is no longer in the second semester that begins today. The good thing began that Friday. My friends organised a party at home because they wanted to do as an opening one and they had never done any kind of event. The particular aspect was that the condition for entering was to go barefoot to avoid staining the carpet too much. When people came and found out this peculiar condition, they was surprised but agreed with pleasure. The bad thing was when the party finished and everyone had to find their shoes ... there were a couple who stayed there and we wondered how people had gone home ... It was a great party, we met many peopleof the uni that we hadn´t ever seen and we had fun. I put some pictures.

And that's not everything. On Saturday, we had another invitation. In this case it was a pirate party so we bought all the gadgets needed and we went to the house of other friends. It was hilarious and people took it seriously dressing. We spent almost five hours dancing like crazy and the truth is that we also had a great time. Yesterday it was time to rest, more than anything, because this week, it´s uni time and I will have more units than before, in the last semester. In addition, I continue looking for this subject that I needed to complete the credits. Today I'm going to talk again to the coordinator to see what I can do. The schedule changes this semester, I have more classes starting today; Monday is not free like last year ... but I'm beginning with strenght and I will tell you how it will go. I´M BACK

Hello everyone. First of all, happy New Year! I hope that 2011 brings you good times and exciting projects. Although I arrived at Southampton on Saturday, classes didn´t start officially until yesterday. I spent almost all day at university because I had to meet with several teachers to discuss the subjects of this semester.I´ve been also working on the travel magazine I have to do for Wednesday. I was spending the day like that, nothing really exciting. I have many problems setting up my new schedule because many of the subjects coincide and I have to change everything in order to fix it. Therefore, I´m afraid I have to change Political Communication, which seemed really interesting for me and I´ll probably choose Inside Multimedia News. Anyway, I´m not sure about this decision so I will tell you what I´ll do a.s.a.p. This week is quite light because some of my classes have already finished and we handed in our projects so we should just wait for the feedback. On Thursday, I have the Court visit. I´ll go with my classmates and lecturer of Broadcast Journalism to see if we can find any piece of news in the Justice Palace. I´ll also tell you about this experience. This everything at the moment.
